What is it?
Designed to help your employees to stay happy and healthy, the Employee Assistance Programme can offer valuable support in all areas of their lives, such as coping with pressures at work, relationship breakdowns, or money worries. The service is provided by HealthHero and is open to all employees, even if they are not covered by your Group Protection policy.
The EAP is a non-contractual service that Aviva can change or withdraw at any time. This service is available to employees who are permanent residents of Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man.
What are the features of the EAP?
24/7 counselling helpline
The Employee Assistance Programme includes access to a 24/7 helpline for in-the-moment support. Your employees can talk to qualified counsellors from the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), about any personal issues they may have.
Qualified counsellors
Your employees can talk to BACP accredited counsellors, who can provide in-the-moment advice and support to help them work through their concerns and deal with anxiety or stresses with short-term solution focused therapy. If clinically appropriate, the EAP also offers up to eight sessions of counselling (Solution Focused Brief Therapy) per year.
Online resources
Employees can also access online resources with advice, articles and webinars on everyday topics, from relationships and childcare to bereavement. There is also preventative care support, via wellbeing assessments, that cover matters like diet, stress, sleep, and short videos on useful areas like healthy heart, women’s health, and exercise.
24/7 legal support line
Round the clock access to a legal adviser who can help with a wide range of legal concerns such as issues relating to housing or tenancy agreements, wills and probate, motoring, consumer rights, family law and much more.
Money and debt support
Confidential money and debt-related information and guidance available from Mon-Fri 8am to 8pm and Sat 9am to 3pm. This service provides free, simple debt advice which may lead to a debt solution such as Debt Management Plan, debt/loan consolidation, Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA) and other options to consider.

How can I launch this service?
Making sure your people know about wellbeing services is almost as valuable as the services themselves. That’s why we go the extra mile to make sure you have the tools you need to tell your employees what’s out there to help them in an engaging, informative way.
Our Employer Hub is a central place where you can find all the tools and materials you need to launch these services to your employees.
We've provided below our EAP engagement support materials. These include posters, flyers and email templates to share with your employees.
Need any help?
