What is it?
Losing someone is difficult and those left behind can struggle to cope. Provided by Care first, the Bereavement Helpline offers emotional and practical support from qualified bereavement counsellors to your employees if they lose someone. And if your employee is the one that passes away, their eligible family members can can use the service to help them cope with their loss.
How is it helpful?
Coping with the death of a loved one or employee is difficult. Through the Bereavement Helpline, your employees and their family members can talk with qualified bereavement counsellors, who can offer:
- practical and emotional support
- help with funeral arrangements, and
- information on dealing with probate, including referrals to specialist organisations for support.
The immediate aftermath of losing someone can be confusing. The Bereavement Helpline offers your employees in-the-moment help with things such as:
- what to do first
- who to contact
- how to support bereaved children
- understanding of what to do in the first five days after a loss.
How can my employees access the helpline?
Provided by Care first, it offers in-the-moment support for insured employees and their family members (spouse/partner or dependants aged over 16).
It's available at any time, no matter how long after bereavement.
They can call the Bereavement Helpline 24/7, on 0800 015 5631. It's completely confidential.
This service is a non-contractual benefit Aviva can change or withdraw at any time.
The Bereavement Helpline is available through the Aviva Group Life policy to insured employees and their family members who are permanent residents of Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man.
