Life cover and ill-health benefits

Life cover and ill-health benefits

If you join the Pension Options Section, you get extra benefits from the Plan. If you ever become too ill to work again, you could get a lump sum of 4 times your basic pay paid into your pension by Whitbread. Alternatively, Whitbread provides a separate life cover benefit. If you die while you are working for Whitbread, this life cover will pay out a tax‑free lump sum worth 4 times your basic pay. You can nominate one or more person (known as a beneficiary) to receive the lump sum.

Please make sure you check your nominated beneficiaries from time to time to confirm your wishes are still up to date. You can make changes at any time – and you should update your nomination if things change in your life, for example, if you get married or divorced, enter or leave a civil partnership, or become a parent.
