Am I covered for Winter sports?
Yes, winter sports are covered up to 31 days per calendar year.
Which activities are not covered?
You’re not covered for:
- Bobsleigh, cresta, luge and skeleton.
- Freestyle skiing and snowboarding.
- Off-piste skiing (unless accompanied by a qualified guide at all times in areas the resort management consider to be safe).
- Heli-skiing.
- Glacier skiing.
- Ski flying, ski jumping, ski stunting and surfing.
- Ski racing and training.
- Ski mountaineering.
Is my equipment covered?

We will pay to hire replacement winter sports equipment if:
- You make a successful claim for loss, theft or damage to your winter sports equipment, or
- Your winter sports equipment is temporarily delayed in transit for more than 24 hours.
We will also cover the cost of a replacement lift pass if it is lost or stolen. For each insured person, we will pay up to:
- £500 for winter sports equipment owned by you.
- £250 for winter sports equipment hired to you (we’ll pay £15 per day).
- £150 for a replacement lift pass.
Am I covered for piste closure?
- This section does not apply to cross-country skiing.
If all pistes at the resort an insured person has booked are closed because of lack of snow, excessive snow or high winds we’ll pay a daily benefit up to the limit shown below.
The most we will pay for:
- Piste closure is £300 per person (we’ll pay £30 per day).
- Loss or theft of lift pass is £250 per person (we’ll pay £20 per day).
Am I covered if I get ill or injured?
If, due to illness or injury, you are medically certified as being unable to ski or board, we will pay a daily benefit for each day you are prevented from doing so.
We will also pay a benefit for the proportionate cost of your non-refundable ski pack (ski lessons from a ski school, ski hire and lift pass).
The most we will pay for winter sports holiday disruption is £200 per person (we’ll pay £20 per day), other than for a ski pack where we’ll pay up to £500.
What’s not covered?
We won’t cover:
- Anything excluded in the ‘General exclusions’ section of your policy documents.
- Off-piste skiing (unless accompanied by a qualified guide at all times in areas the resort management consider to be safe).
- Bobsleigh, cresta, luge and skeleton.
- Freestyle skiing and snowboarding.
- Heli-skiing.
- Glacier skiing.
- Ski flying, ski jumping, ski stunting and surfing.
- Ski racing/training.
