What your Group Life cover provides
With your employer’s Group Life policy, we’ll pay a lump sum and, if included in the policy, a death in service pension to your beneficiary or beneficiaries, should you die in service. This can help ease the financial burden for your family.
We’ll be there to support your family with qualified counsellors via the Bereavement Helpline, provided by Care first. Not only that, but our Group Life cover also provides a range of wellbeing services for you throughout your working life to help you live a happier, healthier lifestyle.

Why is Group Life cover good for you?
You have a financial safety net for your dependants
Your employer’s Group Life Cover provides insured employees’ loved ones with a financial safety net, helping them cope during the worst possible time. Although a lump sum payment or death in service pension can’t replace you, it can help to ease the financial burden when your loved ones need it the most. In 2023, Aviva paid out over £255 million in Group Life claims.
You have access to a range of wellbeing services
Aviva’s Group Life cover includes access to a range of wellbeing services to help you live a happier, healthier life. Discover your wellbeing services
These services are non-contractual benefits that Aviva can change or withdraw at any time.
To be eligible for wellbeing services employees must be permanent residents of Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man.
The claims process
Your employer will claim on their Group Life cover policy in the event of your death and will liaise with your beneficiaries to arrange payment once the claim has been approved at our end.
You may want to to tell your employer who you would like your beneficiaries to be and this can be done by completing the expression of wishes form. Once you’ve completed the form you should give this to your employer for safekeeping and for them to refer back to in the event of your death.
