Parts of the world are experiencing widespread wildfires, driven by record-breaking heatwaves, with major incidents being declared. Please see below for details of cover that is provided in the event of a wildfire in the destination that you are travelling to.
Wildfires
If you have already started your trip – We’ll pay unexpected additional travel and accommodation costs to allow you to continue your trip or return home at the end of your trip if you are unable to reach or use your pre-booked accommodation, or if your flights are cancelled due to a wildfire. If you need to come home early due to these reasons, we’ll also pay unrecoverable costs for your unused travel and accommodation, as well as unused pre-paid costs associated with the trip such as excursions and green fees.
Before you leave your home – Our policy provides cover if you need to cancel your trip following a wildfire which has resulted in your flight being cancelled or your accommodation becoming unreachable or uninhabitable. We’ll pay unrecoverable costs for your unused travel and accommodation as well as unused pre-paid costs associated with the trip such as excursions and green fees.
Additionally, there is cover if you wish to cancel or come home early due to a wildfire within a 50-mile radius of your accommodation happening within 31 days before your departure date, or while you are away.
