Keep in mind that the pack holder and the nominated party are both covered and can both make claims. The only difference is that the pack holder can cancel the pack and change the payment method. If you cancel it to switch this, your cover and benefits might change, depending on which pack you have.
You can read more about the changes to your cover and benefits in the Barclays app or Online Banking by going to ‘Statements and documents’.
Travel and Travel Plus Packs
If you open a new pack within 14 days of closing your old pack and you have:
- Any pre-existing medical conditions we’ve accepted in writing
- Any changes to a pre-existing medical condition that we’ve accepted in writing
- Any new diagnosed conditions
- Any new symptoms.
You’ll have cover for any trips that were booked before your new pack starts and are scheduled within 12 months of us updating your pack, as long as Aviva have previously agreed to cover the condition.
If you don’t re-open a pack within 14 days of closing your old pack, you won’t be able to benefit from the 12 months of cover. You’ll also need to complete a new medical screening when you re-open your pack.
If you book any trips after we update your pack, you’ll need to complete an online medical screening and buy a medical upgrade if you need cover for a pre-existing medical condition.
Tech Pack
You’ll keep the same benefits, as long as you open a new pack within 14 days of closing your old pack. If you open a pack after 14 days, you won’t be able to keep your old pack benefits. This means you won’t be able to claim for a cracked screen for 12 months when you re-open your pack, and your first-year excess payments will apply.
