Barclays travel insurance – Pack updating

Barclays are updating their Travel and Travel Plus pack products. As part of these changes this will bring online functionality, updated product limits and more. We have created this page to help you understand the changes coming to your pack and how this affects you.

What’s changing with your travel insurance?

Barclays have told you about upcoming changes to your cover.

The date provided by Barclays in the first line of your communication is when these changes will take effect.

From that date, you will be able to manage your travel insurance online via your Barclays app or online banking.

What’s different?

Some new features of your updated Travel Insurance include:

  • The introduction of Pre-existing medical upgrades
This means you can now get a quote online to cover your medical conditions. While you may now have to pay to cover your conditions, we’ve increased the number of conditions we’ll accept, meaning you may be able to get cover for conditions that were previously excluded.
  • The ability to get a quote for a longer trip
This means you can now get a quote online if you’re planning a trip that goes over our standard 31-day limit. We’ve also increased the maximum number of days you can go on any single trip, up to 120 days.
  • View your travel insurance documents
This means you can see all the documents provided by us online, even if you’ve requested a paper copy in the post. This also includes the ability to request written proof of your travel insurance for peace of mind in just a few clicks, for you and your family.

Do I need to do anything?

Why is my travel insurance changing?

As Barclays update your Pack, we’re giving you the ability to manage your travel insurance online, including introducing the ability to screen your pre-existing medical condition online.

Do you have any planned trips you’ve already booked?

We’ll continue to provide cover for any medical conditions you’ve already told us about and we’ve accepted in writing. Any changes to those conditions and any new symptoms developed, or diagnoses received, for trips that fall within 12 months from the date your Pack changes. We will only do this for any trips booked prior to Barclays changing your Pack. Please use the Medical Cover Trip Checker below to confirm your cover for each trip you‘ve already booked.
